Volunteering at Chester River Hospital Center
The Chester River Hospital Center Auxiliary offers three different opportunities for those interested in volunteering. Volunteer duties are available both inside and outside of the hospital. They are as follows:
In-House Volunteers In-house volunteers provide assistance to nurses and hospital staff including messenger duties, patient transport, specimen transport, and X-ray transport.
There are three available shifts, Monday through Friday. The shifts are as follows: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Gift Shop The Hospital Gift Shop,operated by the Chester River Hospital Center Auxiliary, is located on the first floor of the hospital, and offers a variety of gifts, flowers and souvenirs. Volunteer duties include operating the cash register, stocking shelves, general tidying, and changing displays.
The Gift Shop is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with 3-hour shifts for volunteers.
Nearly New Shop The Nearly New Shop, located in downtown Chestertown and operated by the Auxiliary, sells clothing, shoes, jewelry, household goods and books for the entire family. Volunteers assist by sorting, tagging, and shelving items and staffing the shop during business hours.
Business hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
