Surgical Services
Types of Surgeries
Chester River Hospital Center offers a wide range of surgical services. The surgical services suite includes two operating rooms, a special procedures room, a same day surgery unit and a post-anesthesia care unit. Patients begin their surgical experience at Chester River Hospital Center with a nursing assessment in our Pre-registration and Educational Program (PREP).
Surgical services offered at Chester River Hospital Center include:
Colon-rectal Surgery
This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the intestines and the rectum. These include colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, lower gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, incontinence, and other gastrointestinal problems.
General Surgery Our general surgeons perform a wide variety of surgical procedures to repair organs and tissues throughout the body.
Oral Surgery This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the mouth. These conditions include impacted teeth, tooth loss, facial injury repair, facial infections, and lesion removal and biopsy.
Orthopedics This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the joints and bones, including joint replacement and surgical intervention to treat sports injuries and arthritis.
Gynecology This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders affecting the female reproductive organs.
Otolaryngology This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the ears, nose, and throat and the related structures of the head and neck. Their special skills include diagnosing and managing diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face.
Ophthalmology This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the eye. These conditions include cataracts, glaucoma, nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Podiatry This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the feet.
Spine Surgery This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the spine.
Thoracic Surgery This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the lungs and esophagus.
Vascular Surgery This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the arterial and venous circulation. These conditions include stroke, thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, varicose veins, aortic dissection, lower extremity arterial occlusive disease, renal artery aneurysm, and venous and lymphatic disorders.
In conjunction with our board-certified vascular surgeons, the hospital also offers a full-service vascular laboratory.
Urology This division of surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the urinary tract. These conditions include erectile dysfunction, incontinence, kidney disease, kidney failure, kidney stones, disorders of the prostate and urinary tract infections.
Pre-registration and Educational Program (PREP).
Up to two weeks before surgery, patients can undergo diagnostic testing, clinical profile assessment, documentation of history and physical, and/or anesthesia consultation. A Clinical Preoperative Nurse Educator coordinates these services.
