Cardiac Diagnostic Services provides diagnostic studies including diagnostic cardiac catheterization, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, electrocardiograms (EKGs), cardiac monitoring, regular and nuclear cardiac stress testing, regular and stress echocardiography (ECHO), pacemaker evaluation, and electroencephalograms (EEGs). Services are provided to inpatients and outpatients.
Pulmonary Diagnostic Services include pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas analysis, and pulse oximetry to diagnose the cause and severity of breathing disorders and help a physician evaluate conditions such as shortness of breath, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and emphysema. In addition, the Chester River Hospital Center Sleep Lab specializes in diagnosing and pulmonary issues that lead to sleep problems.
Respiratory Care provides therapeutic gas administration, aerosol and humidity therapy, pulmonary chest physiotherapy, intermittent positive pressure breathing therapy, and incentive spirometry. More sophisticated services include mechanical ventilatory support, non-invasive bi-level pressure ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and endotracheal intubation.
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation offers Phase I, II, III and IV cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services, and is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The Department also sponsors a Healthy Hearts support group for cardiac patients and a Better Breathers Support group for pulmonary patients.
