The Admissions and Patient Registration Department at Chester River Hospital Center provides an efficient introduction to our healthcare delivery system. As you enter the main lobby of the hospital, go directly to the information desk where the receptionist will assist you. Our knowledgeable and pleasant staff assists patients with registration information so their care can be the primary concern. The admissions and registration area strives to provide positive, compassionate assistance to all who seek the hospital's services.
The department provides registration for hospital services including, but not limited to, admissions, emergency department registration, diagnostic services, and surgical services.

It is the policy of Chester River Hospital Center to provide services to all persons regardless of race, color, age, national origin, sex, religion, or disability. This non-discrimination policy applies to all facilities and programs of the hospital.
All patients have the right to make decisions about their medical care, including whether or not to refuse medical and surgical treatment and to prepare advance directives. An Advance Directives packet will be provided upon admission. If you are not a patient but would like information about Advance Directives, please feel free to call the hospital's Patient Care Services Department at 410-810-5664.
You, your family, and friends are encouraged to donate blood and become members of the local donor center, Blood Bank of Delaware/Eastern Shore. If you are not a member of the blood bank, you may be charged a blood replacement fee. For blood donor information, call the Blood Bank at 1-800-553-8819.
Interpreters are available for patients and their visiting family members by calling the Human Resources Department, at 410-778-7668, ext. 4044, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. At other times our Language Line Service is available by dialing 0 for the hospital operator.
Chester River Hospital offers all private rooms, each with its own bathroom. We recommend that you bring a robe, pajamas and slippers. Please do not bring jewelry, valuable items or a large sum of money. The hospital cannot be responsible for personal items kept in your room.
All patient rooms have telephone and television service at no cost, except the Critical Care Unit, which has television service only. Cellular phone use is prohibited in the Critical Care Unit on the second floor. Pay telephones are available throughout the hospital.
The Food & Nutrition Services Department at Chester River Hospital Center provides fresh, wholesome, appetizing meals to patients, visitors and staff. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff of clinical dietitians, cooks and food service aides work together to provide appealing and great tasting food.

Inpatient food service is available from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days per week.
The hospital cafeteria is located on the second floor. To reach the cafeteria from the main entrance to the hospital, follow the hallway straight ahead to the elevator. Take the elevator to the second floor, turn left after exiting the elevator and follow the signs to the cafeteria.
The Gift Shop, operated by the Chester River Hospital Center Auxiliary, is located in the main lobby on the first floor and is open Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from Noon to 3:00 p.m. The Gift Shop offers a wide variety of gift items, cards, candy, snacks, flowers, stamps, magazines and newspapers.
Volunteers deliver mail daily to patients; any mail arriving after your discharge will be forwarded to your home. Please ask family and friends to address mail to you as follows:

A chaplain is available to respond to patients' spiritual needs. To speak to the chaplain, patients should contact their nurse who will contact the chaplain on call. Additionally, there is a chapel located on the first floor adjacent to the emergency department. Visitors and patients are invited to use the chapel for prayer or meditation.
For the health of our patients, visitors and staff, Chester River Hospital Center is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is prohibited inside all buildings, as well as all outdoor areas of the campus, including entrances, sidewalks and parking lots including inside vehicles.
The Patient Financial Services Office provides information and assistance to patients concerning billing to Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance carriers. Patients are encouraged to call with questions concerning hospital charges, billing procedures, status of claims or to make payment arrangements.
